Our story began more than 30 years ago when Ivan Kljaković Gašpić, our founder, first became captivated by the sea and the sailing lifestyle. Growing up with his father and grandfather on the family boat, the seed was planted for a life defined by the wind and waves.
The Olympic Pedigree
That early love for the sea evolved into one of the most successful sailing careers in Croatian history. From winning European titles in the Optimist class to competing in the International Finn class, Ivan’s journey was a continuous search for perfection. This path led him to represent Croatia at the Olympic Games three times, in 2008, 2012, and 2016.
Competing at the highest level against the world’s greatest sailing legends, Ivan learned that excellence is not optional at sea. It is a day to day lifestyle where precision and gear can never be compromised. Those years of elite competition carved the mind of a seasoned professional who knows exactly what it takes to perform under pressure.
Bridging the Gap from Sport to Business
After the Rio 2016 Olympics, Ivan transitioned into the business world, bringing his athlete’s discipline to shipyards and high end management roles at ACI and RAND Shipyard. Throughout these years, his focus shifted toward client satisfaction and the urge for perfection in the yachting industry. He realized that sailors deserved equipment that was truly proven in the most demanding conditions.
This vision led to the founding of Yachting Mission 524. Today, we are proud to be the official distributor of Henri-Lloyd for Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro, alongside our partnership with Marlow Ropes.
