The Early Days
A Love for the Sea
It has all started a long time ago, it has been more than 30 years when Ivan, our founder has got infected with sea, boats, sailing, freediving and all what life sea life brings.
As a boy together with his grandfather they have spent summers on the family boat following his father who was passionate freediver. Seed was planted and years following were watering and nurturing that love and affection.
Rising
Through the Ranks
At young age Ivan has started Sailing in Optimist, very soon followed with excellent results such as European title, then youth programs in Lasers and latest in Finn class that has led to some of the greatest successes that Croatian sailing has seen up till then.
Winning World Championship, European Championships and World Cup medals and titles has put a high stamp of excellence and has been part of daily life for more than 20 years with no break. Pushing hard was never an option; it was just a continuous day to day lifestyle in a search of excellence.
In time while sailing the Olympics for three times and competing against some of the best sailors ever like Sir Ben Ainslie, Ivan has learned of striving for perfection in so many ways, from family, team of coaches and of course large group of friends and fierce competitors from all around the world, who have carved mind of seasoned sailing professional.
Whether sailing a Finn dinghy at Olympics, big boats at Match racing events or maxis, constant learning and hunger to become better is always main driving force.
Transitioning
From Sport to Business
Following a long sports sailing career of 20 years, after Rio Olympics in 2106 Ivan has started his business career in a shipyard of one of the most advanced sailboats for several years.
Starting at sales as a manager in and later in operations, passion for boating has begun to flow towards client’s satisfaction.
Few years after the path has led to join company ACI, operator of the largest chain of marinas in the Mediterranean, where he has worked as marina manager and project manager of ACI Sail, pioneering collaboration between Nautor Swan and ACI.
During those years, combination of sailing skills, management and high-end clients has furthermore shaped urge for details, perfection and client’s satisfaction. Latest high level management experience has again led Ivan to boatbuilding industry at RAND Shipyard, where new experiences were key of intensive learning time for a bit over two years.
Building a Team
& Sharing Knowledge
In the meantime, making a team and having great people around have always made essential frame for any endeavour taken so far.
Investing time, energy and know-how to new generation of sailors and yachting professionals has been important to create value for a whole eco-system and team was growing. At that stage, young Marin was introduced to the world of high-performance sailing and yachting.
Ever since 2015, brotherhood like bond was made and Marin has been learning and growing to one of the best operational experts in various activities.
Finally, Yachting Mission 524 was founded based on passion for sea, yachts and sailing, with a goal set to providing excellent service and the best products to our customers.
